Well, it's about fall once again. This time of year is nice because it's hot once day and then cool and rainy the next day, but I'm also not excited for the winter and you can feel it in the air. I have been busy with the first few weeks of school, I'm realizing how fast this semester is going to be. This month I have been shooting some self portraits and developing all my rolls of film from this summer and adventuring around to enjoy the last nice weather of the year. September's Photo of the Month is a digital photograph that I took while on an evening nature adventure to Casper Mountain. I have been happy that it has been so warm out and I've had just a bit longer to go up on the mountain before it snows again, yes, it has already snowed once this month. But even more strange, it's been in the upper 80's ever since! Wyoming weather.. The trees have started to change and there were some really beautiful colors. I do wish that we had more of a fall here, usually it goes straight from hot weather to snow. I really see this as the last time of year to get photos before I don't have much else to take photos of the rest of the year. I hope everyone is having a nice beginning to their Autumn! Here are some more photos I took this month!

I have been up to quite a bit this month! College starts up again this week and I'm excited to say that it's my last semester before I have my Associates of Fine Arts in Photography! So I've been getting ready for my classes and trying to get back into a decent sleep schedule. California has always one of my favorite places to be. Throughout the years I've been spending more and more time there, exploring the many exciting places to visit with my family. I love California! And I love shooting California too. There are so many interesting things to take photos of, different plants, more museums, different buildings and landscapes that I'm completely in love with. This year I spent alot of time going around various places with my aunt for work and for fun! One of the first things we did was spending a day and night in Santa Monica, which was great! I loved how close the beach was but there was still the fast paced environment of the city. I spent time wandering around shooting the nearby buildings like city hall and the pier. I even got to watch the sunset from the beach! I also spent alot of time in Palm Springs, just wandering around and shooting the area, it was so hot! I'm a fan of the heat but 112 isn't ideal shooting conditions, even for me. I love the mountains in the Palm Springs area, they are so tall and rocky, mixed with the palm trees, it's one of my favorite things about that area. The plants too! They are very different from the plants inland and they were so great, giant agave's and succulents. My aunt and I went to Los Angeles a couple of times, which made me extremely happy, I love Los Angeles! The mountains are beautiful and the whole area is so alive and seems to have a haze of blue over it. We went to the LACMA which was amazing, it was my first time every visitiing and they had the most exciting Impressionist exhibit that I was completely in awe of. They had everything from Van Gogh, Kandinsky, Braque, Picasso, and even Matisse! That was almost my favorite part of my entire trip. Art History is one of my favorite subjects so it's always exciting getting to see old paintings in person like that, something we don't have in Wyoming. Anyway! I also spent sometime in Vegas and snapped a few photos as well, I'll be posting them separate! All my California photographs from July 2014 are now in my Digital Photography Gallery and also on my Flickr! If you follow me on Tumblr or Instagram then I will be periodically posting all my photos from this trip as well!
Hello! Sorry that I am late with the Photo of the Month for July. I have been in Southern California for a few weeks and I'm busy getting all my photos up from the trip :) The Photo of the Month for July is a photograph that I took while I was in Santa Monica! I never get to experience how wonderful it is to see the sunset on the beach and the wonderful pier in Santa Monica just makes it so picturesque, don't you think? This month was full of adventure, I'm very enamored with California and the many things to photograph there. Here are some more pictures that I took while in Santa Monica! I will be posting more California photos in the next couple of weeks! They will be in my Digital Photography Gallery and Flickr soon! I will also have a blog post regarding all the fun things that I did on my vacation. So come back and see it all!
At the end of June I took a three hour trip from my home town to visit the Snowy Range in the Medicine Bow National Forest. All my years in Wyoming and there are so many places that I haven't been! This was one of them and I was so excited to go. Although it was a bit more snowy than I would have liked, everything about Snowy Range is absolutely breath taking. Actually, there was way too much snow, we didn't get to do all the trails and see all the lakes that we wanted because the roads were still blocked off by huge drifts of snow! In June! I guess I shouldn't be surprised since Snowy Range is at it's lowest, 10,000 ft and in an Alpine climate. A friend and I visited Mirror Lake and walked over many banks of snow to the other side of Lake Marie. They were both just absolutely gorgeous. I have never seen anything like it in Wyoming before. They had tall and grey mountains, clear and calm lakes surrounded by pine trees and white stones. We wanted to see some other lakes and do some trails, but they were blocked. We did climb over some large drifts on a hillside to see a waterfall that we wanted to see badly! It was a fun and beautiful day, even the drive through the forest is wonderful, you can see the whole forest from the road! As soon as it warms up there a little more, I'm headed back for even more landscapes! Just a heads up, I will be in California for the rest of this month so the Photo of the Month for July is going to be a little late!
Hey guys! This is my Photo of the Month for June!
I thought that I would post some photos that kind of show what I have been up to lately. Of course it is summer, and school is out so besides work, there is so much that I can do! I have so much more time for myself, taking photos, reading, playing tennis, and so much hiking! I'm a huge hiking fan, it is a good work out, you get to be outside and hopefully be in a beautiful spot. Near town we have a beautiful mountain area that has a couple of nice trails and hidden places, you don't get to see much in the winter in Wyoming so it's nice to be able to see everything alive for once. Also about thirty miles out of town we have a lake that is a much different environment from in town, it's a pretty well visited spot in the summer from us from Casper. Here are a few photos from a couple of hikes that I have taken on my days off this summer! What do you think of my nature shots? Do you prefer to do outdoor activities in the summer? Comment below! I thought that I should make a post saying that I made a Facebook and an Instagram strictly for my photography! I know there are many of people who use social networking and I love to keep people updated on what I'm doing and so they can see my photographs easily! Here are a few links to all of the sites that I currently use for my photography! Tumblr : www.kristamaxine.tumblr.com Facebook : www.facebook.com/KristaMaxinePhoto Instagram : @KristaMaxinePhoto If you want any of my other social networking sites, you can find them listed on my Contact Page. Here is my photo of the month for May! I took this photo when in Denver at the 16th Street Mall in downtown Denver of my boyfriend looking over the street. We went and picked him up from the airport that day and spent the day downtown! I also took this photo on the left of my best friend, tired after a long drive and adventure in the city. I usually love May. May is the month that it finally stops snowing and the freezing cold wind ceases in Wyoming. It's finally the time of year when we get some rain and sun! It's so perfect to have some green in the hills, leaves growing on the trees, birds singing and I'm so in love with the warm sun. College is out and it's exciting to get a start into Summer with less responsibilities and more traveling! And more working too, but that's okay as long as I get to sleep in! This month I got to have my film photos in the gallery at school and got into the school magazine. Also, I figured out that I only have one semester left until I graduate with my Associates Degree. It has been a good month for me and I hope it has been for everyone else! I have been shooting a variety of things, especially outside. Living in Wyoming means there isn't much to shoot between the months of October until May so all I end up shooting when it gets nice out is flowers and plants and the sky and the nature in Wyoming that I don't get to enjoy in the many months of Winter. I enjoy going on runs and hikes as soon as it's nice enough. And of course I went to Denver as soon as school was out and my friends and I had a great time! I took some photos of my friends while I was there. I hope to have a gallery in my Digital Photography Gallery of Wyoming photos this Summer since I don't have a specific album of where I live yet! It seems that I've been shooting quite a bit of black and white lately! What do you enjoy shooting in Spring? Hey guys! This is exciting for me because I've never really sold my work before and I thought that I'd try it and see how it goes. So these are the prints that I have for sale right now! They are all 5"x7" on 8"x10" paper and I have four of every print to start off with. Each print will be $20, family and friends get a discount! They are all digital photographs from various places, if you have questions about any of the photos then you can go to my Contact page. I hope you guys like them and if there is any questions don't be afraid to ask! If there is a certain photo that you have seen elsewhere of mine or in one of my galleries that you want a print of, send me an email and I'll see what I can do!
