July, July. It was a good month. A busy one as well. For the beginning of the month I took a trip a few states over to visit my sister in Denver. It was nice being back in a familiar city with new eyes to see it with. After a few days of spending much needed time with my twin sister and friends and going to museums and shows, I headed back up to Wyoming for a bit. It was nice to see family and my friends, although being back where I came from was unsettling and I was very uncomfortable most of the time. It confirmed for me that Oregon is my home. I thought about it constantly while on vacation. The town was quiet and desolate as usual, but it seemed more so since I've been living somewhere larger. I missed Portland. After a few days at home, I hoped on another flight and met my aunt in Los Angeles! It was a fun trip. We spent a day downtown at the Broad museum where I got to see some of my favorite artists like Barbra Kruger! We had lunch in Manhattan Beach and Pasadena. We went to the beach in Santa Monica. We spent an entire day at Universal Studios at Harry Potter which was the highlight of the trip. I enjoyed staying in LA with a view of the San Fernando valley from my hotel room. My sister and I drank butterbeer and did magic in the park until we had no energy left. I was so happy to return home and I've been cherishing it ever since I've been back. I wonder what the next month will hold for me.

California has always one of my favorite places to be. Throughout the years I've been spending more and more time there, exploring the many exciting places to visit with my family. I love California! And I love shooting California too. There are so many interesting things to take photos of, different plants, more museums, different buildings and landscapes that I'm completely in love with. This year I spent alot of time going around various places with my aunt for work and for fun! One of the first things we did was spending a day and night in Santa Monica, which was great! I loved how close the beach was but there was still the fast paced environment of the city. I spent time wandering around shooting the nearby buildings like city hall and the pier. I even got to watch the sunset from the beach! I also spent alot of time in Palm Springs, just wandering around and shooting the area, it was so hot! I'm a fan of the heat but 112 isn't ideal shooting conditions, even for me. I love the mountains in the Palm Springs area, they are so tall and rocky, mixed with the palm trees, it's one of my favorite things about that area. The plants too! They are very different from the plants inland and they were so great, giant agave's and succulents. My aunt and I went to Los Angeles a couple of times, which made me extremely happy, I love Los Angeles! The mountains are beautiful and the whole area is so alive and seems to have a haze of blue over it. We went to the LACMA which was amazing, it was my first time every visitiing and they had the most exciting Impressionist exhibit that I was completely in awe of. They had everything from Van Gogh, Kandinsky, Braque, Picasso, and even Matisse! That was almost my favorite part of my entire trip. Art History is one of my favorite subjects so it's always exciting getting to see old paintings in person like that, something we don't have in Wyoming. Anyway! I also spent sometime in Vegas and snapped a few photos as well, I'll be posting them separate! All my California photographs from July 2014 are now in my Digital Photography Gallery and also on my Flickr! If you follow me on Tumblr or Instagram then I will be periodically posting all my photos from this trip as well!
Hello! Sorry that I am late with the Photo of the Month for July. I have been in Southern California for a few weeks and I'm busy getting all my photos up from the trip :) The Photo of the Month for July is a photograph that I took while I was in Santa Monica! I never get to experience how wonderful it is to see the sunset on the beach and the wonderful pier in Santa Monica just makes it so picturesque, don't you think? This month was full of adventure, I'm very enamored with California and the many things to photograph there. Here are some more pictures that I took while in Santa Monica! I will be posting more California photos in the next couple of weeks! They will be in my Digital Photography Gallery and Flickr soon! I will also have a blog post regarding all the fun things that I did on my vacation. So come back and see it all!

I thought that I would post a bit about what I did in Seattle and what I enjoyed photographing while I was there! Seattle was great. I had never been to Washington or anywhere on the West Coast above California so I was excited to see what it was like. Surprisingly, the whole time I was there it was sunny and pretty warm. All of us Wyoming kids were really amazed at how green everything was and all these flowers were in bloom on the trees, it was gorgeous. We rode the light rail into town and went to the Space Needle the first day, it was amazing! The view is so spectacular and riding a train is so fun when you never get to. I enjoyed shooting stuff in the stations underground, there are so many lines and shapes. I went back up in the Space Needle in the evening to get some photos of the city while the sun was going down, which I am glad that I did, I got some great shots of the city from above with some nice light on it. Throughout the week we went to Pike Place Market multiple times because it's so cool, we could spend all day there. All the fruit they let you try is so good and the levels of shops were so interesting and cool. There is so much to photograph there. Tons of colorful fruit, flowers and signs for things. I spent alot of time shooting the little things in the market, just the atmosphere there is relaxing and nice. I spent a good amount of time downtown too! I really enjoy the city and all the things going on. I spent some time shooting the buildings and gorgeous streets that they have. We also went to the Waterfront and Pioneer Square which were both very cool. The Waterfront is nice because it's like you are by the ocean and there are tons of boats and birds. Pioneer Square has very lovely old buildings and it's nice to know about the history of it! Here are some photos that I got while I was there and if you want to see more they are all on my Flickr and in my Digital Photography Gallery right here on my website! Wow! Picking a Photo of the Month for this month was tough! Of course I had to pick one of the shots I took in Seattle this past week. I took a hundred photos that I love so I hope you go see the rest I took! If you want to see more of my Seattle photos they will be up on my Digital Photography Gallery, on my Flickr and on my Tumblr. There is so many things to photograph in Seattle which is half of the reason that I went on the trip. I was on the go the whole time I was there and it was so fun! I took so may pictures and experienced the town, I had never been to Washington before and it was exciting. The whole time I was there it was sunny, everything was so green and lovely. We don't get alot of green in Wyoming so I enjoyed that alot. I took this photo at the top of the Space Needle right when the sun was going down. The photo to the right I took two days later while sitting at the park. I'll be making a separate post next week about my entire trip so stay tuned! Check out all my Seattle photos in my Digital Photography Gallery and tell me what photo you liked best! |
Welcome!
