Happy New Year! I'm excited to be posting my first post of the year. This month was a little hectic for me, packed full of almost nothing but stress and fatigue. Last month, I decided that it would be a good idea to look into moving to Oregon. Ever since the decision was made, I had been riddled with anxiety and worries which is to be expected from someone moving and even more so from a young woman like myself moving away from home for the very first time and did I mention, on my own. So as the moving date approached and I scrambled to get everything in order, I was more and more anxious and very much in denial. My family and friends said goodbye to me, but I didn't feel any different and I left my job and I tried to take in everything that I could of my home town and my rituals at home and with my friends, but everything felt the same. I couldn't sleep for weeks, and it was awful. I had a wonderful going away party with as many friends and family and I could fit into my house. I spent my last free day with my best friend and my dad. The morning of the move I packed my remaining possessions and tried not to get too sad leaving my father and my cat but I cried hard while I drove through town, empty in the dark. By the time the sun was rising and I was focused on my task at hand, getting there. The drive wasn't nearly as arduous as I expected, which I was glad of. I spent one night in Idaho and the next day I arrived. After a few days of dreadful sleeping on the floor all my things arrived at the apartment and I have been making it feel like home. Oregon makes me so happy and it's full of beauty like I've never seen and Portland calms me in a way that I can't describe, while still being vibrant and exciting. It's a little sad that I had to leave everyone that I love, to be somewhere where I think I can thrive, to be somewhere that I can be happy but I haven't regretted this decision yet and I doubt that I will. I cannot wait to see where the rest of my journey takes me.
I'm going to have so many photos this year so stay tuned!

It's interesting to me how the months of the year go so quickly but then you get to December, and the last month of the year feels like it drags out so long. After returning home from a quick trip to Denver to visit my twin sister, I packed my bags and headed out to Portland, OR once again. This time I had a vehicle and met up with some lovely girls that I plan to be living with from here on out. It was a successful trip, and I'm grateful. It also reminded me of the beauty and calmness this city has. It rained and I wandered this city and forest. Besides the flooding, I quite enjoyed the slightly warmer weather and lack of wind. My aunt joined me and it was enjoyable to get to see her, it was nice to have her around while trying to make a big choice. The trip home was an arduous one with a delay on my plane and a sneaking feeling that I would be returning soon, and maybe shouldn't even have been leaving. With a couple weeks to spend worrying about whether or not I was going to get approved for an apartment I returned to an old job, which I was happy to see some old faces that really took my mind off of things. So now it's nearing Christmas and all I can think about is the fact that I will be moving to another state and trying to start things for myself. This year was one of the best that I've had in my life; I wonder what the new year will bring and I'm very thrilled to see where it will take me.
November is one of my favorite and least favorite months somehow. The weather was incredibly bearable and even nice during the first half the month and then it changed into bone chilling cold. Wyoming is a state with winters that make you want to stay inside until around June, and with the temperatures only reaching around 15 degrees the last few days, I'm definitely feeling this way. When my seasonal job ended, I took the time to start researching how I can move to another state, which has been stressful but exciting. I also was able to go down to Denver to see my sister for the week of my birthday which was also the week of Thanksgiving. The drive was horrifying and stressful on the snow and ice covered highway to Colorado and I certainly didn't enjoy it. Spending a week with my sister and her roommates was wonderful and I had a joyous time on the days that I got to spend by myself exploring the lovely city which wasn't nearly as cold as at home. There was a couple days that I got to 60 degrees! My birthday was a nice day that I mostly got to wander around in solitude. When everyone in the house got off work, we went to the highlands and had a fancy dinner. I watched the light snow sprinkle on the city from the table which everyone chatted and ate their delicious tapas. It was an alright night, but it was cold and I was tired, but I enjoyed the sight of the city that I got and it was enjoyable spending time with my sister and her friends. The day before, I decided that I wanted a change and cut the majority of my hair off, and I absolutely love it. This Thanksgiving was my first away from home, and it was interesting to be around people who weren't my family. There was pleasant food and company. I'm not sure when I'll get to see my sister again, so it was special to me to get to spend the time that I had with her and I was sad when I had to leave. I'm home now and awaiting another trip, which I will write about next month!
This is a bit late, I'm sorry for that! Well this month was quite a lovely one. Besides the fact that I worked quite often, I got to spend very much time in Denver with my sister and her friends and enjoyed it very much. I stayed for awhile this time. It was nice being around in the fall when the leaves are floating down the street and everyone is just a little more bundled than usual. While I was there, I got to see a band called Sunflower Bean with my sister and friend Tucker. My sister and I walked to the venue, the Gothic Theatre and waited for the show. I got to meet the bass player Julia Cumming and talk to her a bit and the band signed my CD and Tuckers LP for him. It was great! We danced along and then had a fun night of playing guitar afterword. My sister and I spent the week touring coffee shops and going to the record store. There was another concert that I got to go see while visiting and that was Girlpool. I also got to meet Cleo Tucker and Harmony Tividad, who were very sweet and kind and sold me one of their yellow records. The show was everything that I wanted, packed into the small Lost Lake, we all sang along and felt filled up with music. It was the best and I was so happy that I got to experience their songs live so close to them. Halloween was fun as usual even though I didn't do much this year. My friend Alex and I dressed up and went to see her brothers band play, which was enough for me.
See all the photos from the shows in my Digital Photography Gallery! This month seemed like a hectic one, but had a few advantages as well. Labor Day weekend, I drove down to Denver to visit my sister and spend time in the city. It was refreshing and very much needed. We found good coffee on Broadway, we dined downtown in the city lights and noise, we found nice antique shops, went to Taste of Denver, and ended up seeing Joan Jett in Civic Center Park! It was probably the best time that I've had in Denver, Colorado so far. The rest of this month was spent working my new job and starting to miss college a little bit. My job requires me to be on the road some of the time and staying in different small and desolate cities in the state. I don't mind in part because being out of town is always nice for me and I love driving and traveling. Even if the destination isn't always incredibly desirable, the journey is usually relaxing. On the way home from one of my recent jobs I stopped at the historical site Independence Rock, since I hadn't been since Elementary school. I'm so glad that I did; it was so beautiful, calm and solitary. In my spare time this month, I've been playing music and getting coffee with my friends and considering when I might move. I enjoy September most of the time, when it's just starting to be autumn and I made sure to get some photographs of the newly changing trees.
Here are a few more photographs I took this month. I hope everyone's September was good. This month seemed to go so quickly. I left the state of New York on the 1st and spent until the 10th in the wonderful and warm state of California, which I always enjoy very much. My aunt and I got to spend this week and a half relaxing and enjoying the time off that we had. We went to San Diego, which I've never really spent much time in, we went to Los Angeles of course, my favorite, and the beach a couple times. I returned home, to my own dismay, and was welcomed by a new job. This is exciting because it is my first full time job and also my first job with the title of "Photographer". Although I had to leave my two current jobs at time time, one of which I have worked at for years. I'm ready for the opportunity and ready to have the experience and take the steps that I need to get where I want to be. This is the first time that I won't be returning to school in my entire life, which is a strange but validating feeling. This month I felt much more motivated and ready to make changes and I'm very glad. Here are a few photos that I took this month in Southern California.
This month was a great one! Well.. Mostly only the end of it was. A change from my normal miserable routine in Wyoming was much needed. I did start a new job and have been thinking about how for the first time in my life I will not be retuning to school in the fast approaching fall. Towards the end of the month, I flew to Las Vegas and for the first time, drove to California for the first time on my own, which was nice excluding the traffic. The next day, my aunt and I flew to New York City out of Los Angeles. It was a wonderful trip and I was very happy to be in the city, but no so much so in the humidity. I walked everywhere, I took the subway by myself, I walked though Greenwich and West Village and the Flatiron District and Midtown, I walked past Grand Central glowing in the night on my way back to the hotel in the evenings. I admired the locals good fashion sense and enjoyed the sound of the train through the grate in the ground and looked through the shops that I couldn't afford. We ate lunch in Central Park and spent a wonderful afternoon at the Met. The city is loud and I admired the view from my petite hotel room. Now I am in Southern California and am ready for another round of adventures, which I will make sure to talk about in my next post!
Here are some other photographs that I took this month and in NYC! See them all in my Digital Photography Gallery. This month has been as slow as it has been quick. The days seem to go by slowly although I cannot believe that it is so far into the Summer already. It has been slightly uneventful but only compared to the last few months that I've had. I have been spending my days enjoying the sunlight, reading books like Roxane Gay's "Bad Feminist" and J.K Rowling's "The Casual Vacancy", practicing guitar and learning new chords, and writing on a new blog. When I have time I've been trying to hike as much as I can. It's been nice to try and focus on other things. Being able to spend time outside is wonderful and a luxury that I will never take for granted. This month, I got a new job and don't start until next month; I have to admit that I am slightly nervous but very excited for something new. Wyoming is so beautiful during the Summer that I almost can forget all it's flaws. That's all for now! Here are some photographs that I took venturing around town (tthis month. Stay tuned for next month because I'll be in New York City and California!
What a month! This month I got my Associates of Fine Arts degree in Photography! Which meant finals but also the end of the year show of all the graduates work in the art department and also graduation itself. My sister came to see me walk and it at least seemed like most of my family was proud of me. Also the most fun part of this month was visiting wonderful Portland, Oregon! I've been waiting for this trip since last October and I had a fantastic time with my friend Marissa. I think I fell in love with Portland, it is the most perfect and beautiful city. We did so much, mostly we walked around and enjoyed the city. From beautiful Downtown lined with trees and big parks with the Art Museum and a very cool Aerial Tram to southeast and the Hawthorne District with it's breathtaking neighborhoods and interesting streets and incredible shopping. We walked across bridges and ate the best food that we have ever had and rode the light rail everyday. It was so perfect and I was so elated the entire time that I was there. We walked so much that our feet ached. We decided to take the bus to Cannon Beach one day and it was so worth it, I've never seen anything more breathtaking. It rained so lightly that you couldn't even feel it and we walked the beach and saw Haystack Rock. Then walked up to the forest and found a hidden trail and beach. The forest was like nothing I have ever seen and I felt so happy there. It was just amazing. By the end of the day we were ready to get back to Portland and we went and got really fancy cocktails! The last day we had finally master public transportation and hardly needed a map and a guy thought that we were locals, we felt pretty cool. We ate at a place on the 30th floor with the best view of the city, where we tried really hard to be fancy and failed. We ate at food carts and had the most amazing milkshakes! The Saturday Market was by far the coolest and biggest farmers and flea market I've ever been too. We got our last cup of the best coffee in the world and were pretty sad to leave. I loved it there and I hope that I can get back to it soon! Here are some photos from this month! See more of my photos from Oregon in my Digital Photography Gallery or on my Flickr!
This month was wonderful! This month I spent most of my time at school trying not to stress out too bad the last couple weeks of my last semester of college. The weather has been getting warmer and warmer. It's been rainy and sunny and all the leaves and flowers are finally making an appearance, which makes me very happy. The last week of this month I took a trip down to Albuquerque to see my favorite band. I stopped in Denver on the way there and back to visit my sister. New Mexico had the prettiest colors and I was excited to go, it's beautiful and I hadn't been there in a couple years. I drove down by myself and spent a couple days there. I went and took photos in Old Town and walked around Downtown for awhile. The concert was absolutely incredible and so special. I got to meet and spend a god amount of time with my biggest idol. I can't explain how perfect it was. Here are some of the photos that I took this month!
